Welcome to Tidworth Garrison Golf Club

TGGC is a private members golf club.  Founded in 1908, it is one of Wiltshire's finest courses boasting excellent turf and some truly memorable holes.

Each hole is different and few overlook each other as the course meanders its way around the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain. On higher ground, take a moment to enjoy some striking views.

Whilst the course owes its existence to the military (in 1895 the war department began development of a major military training area in Tidworth); Tidworth Garrison Golf Club owes an even greater debt to legendary golf course architect Harry Shapland Colt.  H.S. Colt is world-renown for such golfing jewels as Muirfield, Sunningdale and Wentworth.

When designing a course, Mr. Colt's vision began with a survey of the land, deciding where best to site his greens.  First to be chosen were normally the short holes and this is perfectly displayed at our 5th & 13th holes, both of which are superb, one-shot holes.

The 12th & 16th are both wonderful golf holes, with the 17th almost as testing and arguably the prettiest.  For a full guide to the course, please click here.

With a par and Standard Scratch Score of 70, Tidworth remains a genuine test of golf, even with modern equipment.

Like all Colt courses, our greens look very natural.  By today's standards, they can appear small (another Colt characteristic); yet because of their size and subtle borrows, can present Tidworth's greatest challenge.

In August 2013, TGGC was awarded a renewal of the GolfMark accreditation; GolfMark is a national scheme run by the English Golf Union that "identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities."  TGGC has been awarded the 'Gold Star High Achievers' version as we met "additional conditions over and above those minimum standards required for GolfMark."
