At Tidworth we have long had a reputation for excellent food. This reputation was officially recognised as far back as 1997 in Fore! magazine's ‘Good Course Guide.’ Tidworth featured in the top 10 of ‘Category Four - Best Food.’ When you consider the remainder of the Top 10 was made up with the likes of Woburn, Wentworth and Gleneagles, we were in excellent company.
Another thrill for us was that Fore!’s shortlist was produced by public nomination and votes, with the final decision being made by a panel of experts. We are therefore proud that both golfers and food experts thought Tidworth worthy.
You can see the full double-page spread of the ‘Best Food’ section in PDF format opposite.
Our own standards and expectations have only grown in this time; in 2008, we took another step forward with the appointment of our new Head Chef, Steve Wheeldon.
Steve has a military background, serving a full 23 years: In his time with the British Army, Steve qualified as a Masterchef, winning the opportunity of cooking for the Queen Mother and the (now) Prime Minister, David Cameron.
On joining Tidworth, Steve’s objective has been to “increase Tidworth’s (already) great reputation for excellent food."
As you would expect, Steve insists on using only fresh ingredients and providing freshly cooked dishes, rather than pre-prepared. Steve’s approach with his cuisine is “flexibility” rather than to simply specialise in (for example) pastries or sauces.
Steve and his team provide an excellent and friendly service to both small and large parties alike.
On the left you can find Steve’s Society Menu and a full list of the Bar Snacks he currently offers. We are sure this should cover most requirements; if you have an individual / dietary requirement however, please let us know and we will be only too willing to cater for this.
